“I just want to grow my own food on my own property.” In 2015, resident Nicole Virgil was instructed by the city of Elmhurst to dismantle her backyard garden. Learn how her nearly six-year struggle to grow food for her family led to Illinois becoming one of only two states to establish ‘Right to Garden’ laws.
