Historian Jim Gibbons traces the story of the Berlin Wall, beginning with its surprise construction on August 12-13, 1961. Dividing not just the city, but the families commuting back and forth within it, Gibbons illustrates how the city finally unites as the wall is officially torn down 30 years later.
