Remarkably Bright Creatures is a novel about a 70-year-old widow, Tova Sullivan, who forms an unlikely friendship with an intelligent giant Pacific octopus named Marcellus at the aquarium where she works. Their bond helps both of them cope with grief and loneliness, with Marcellus using his detective skills to uncover the truth behind the disappearance of Tova's son. The story explores themes of grief, found family, and the connection between humans and other species.
